Veteran actress Munmun Sen’s elder daughter, beautiful girl with broad eyes, Raima Sen had showcased her acting talent in number of meaningful films in parallel cinema zone like Rituparno Ghosh’s “Chokher Bali”, ” Manorama ten feets under”, “Antar Mahal”, “Parineeta”, “Eklavya”, “The Bong Connection” etc but now the pretty actress wants to do some hot and glamorous roles in pure commercial, masala films.
Few days back, pretty petite Raima expressed her desire during an interview. “Yes, why not. I’m all for glamour and I would love to portray a glamorous character,.” says Raima.
Sen further added, “No it’s not a conscious decision at all. Like I said, I end up choosing the best of what I get. So if a great commercial movie comes my way, I’ll grab it. I want to work with different directors and experiment with different, interesting roles – ranging from out and out commercial to offbeat.”
In her latest release ” The Japanese Wife”, she played second lead role, the character of a young widow who has a eight years old son.
According to Raima, this was the most challenging role of her career till now because she had to feel like a responsible mother from inside to get into the character and in real life she has no such experience of being a mother till now, simultaneously she had to showcase inner desires of a young widow who lives with another man and falls in love with him but could not express her feelings.
Raima’s performance in the film is well received by critics as well as audience.
Not only in Hindi films but Raima has earned a good name in regional cinema as well, specially Bengali films. Soon, she will appear in director Rituparno Ghosh’s upcoming Bengali film, “Nauka Dubi”.
Her younger sister Ria sen is also working in the film. Other than this, Raima is doing actor cum director, Vinay Shukla’s upcoming hindi movie ” Mirch” where she will share screen space with bunch of polished actors like Konkana Sen Sharma, Boman Irani, Sheryash Thalpade & Shahana Goswami.
Raima is working hard to make a distinct place in the bollywood and gradually achieving her goal too. Good luck Raima!!! Keep going.
