The Kapoor khandaan is one of the most powerful families in Bollywood ever since they moved in from Punjab to Bombay in the 1930s.

They have a long line of actors, actresses, producers and directors who have hailed from this family. Such luminaries like Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor have hailed from this family.

It was surprising when this Punjabi family contributed actresses into Bollywood like Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, because they hadnt been know for contributing actresses. But Karishma Kapoor broke this line of thought when she debuted with the film Prem Qaidi. She soon found success in Bollywood and went on to establish herself a star and an actress till she retired from the scene after her marriage.

Her success in the industry prompted her smaller sister Kareena Kapoor to enter the industry. Kareena or ‘Bebo’ as she is better known made her debut along with Abhishek Bachan in the JP Datta directed Refuge. She had been penciled in to debut along with Hritik Roshan in Kaho Na Pyar Hai, but the delays in getting that movie off the ground led her into the arms of AB Baby and JP Datta, and thus Refuge happened.

Kareena had a slow start with her debut movie, it didn’t do any wonders at the box office. But her good looks and sexy body along with decent acting skills helped her to establish herself in the industry. In fact, she did a better job at establishing herself than her fellow debutante Junior Bachan. She later made up for walking out of Kaha Na Pyar Hai by doing the forgettable Mein Prem Ki Diwaani Hoon with Hritik Roshan. Unfortunately for her, the film sank at the box office – despite being a Rajshri production. Also her other movie with Hritik Roshan, the Subhash Ghai helmed “Yadeein” too died a sudden death at the box office. She and the movie were both panned by critics.

Despite all these hiccups, Kareena maintained her cool and had a gala time and established herself as an actress to watch. She also had a romantic liasion with the young Shahid Kapoor. They were pretty much in love and seen everywhere together (there was even an MMS clip floating around which showed them getting close and cosy with each other!). So everything was working fine in Bebo’s life.
But Shahid’s career went nowhere. And Bebo was quick to move out and into the life of the recently single Saif Ali Khan. She also changed many other things in her life by shedding a lot of weight and acquiring a hot size zero body! She also promptly showed off that hot body while wearing a lime green bikini in the YashRaj movie “Tashan”.

Now, Bebo’s got it all. A great boyfriend, good standing in the industry, banners falling over one another to work with her, and a body and face that will launch a million ships. But where do you think she is going? Will she ever be able to find real happiness in life. She has got one release in the coming weeks, and that’s the Rohit Shetty helmed Golmaan Returns.
